Making Lasting Improvements in Flexibility

  • Flexibility maintenance is important given that 10% of our flexibility is lost for every ten years we age. Flexibility helps our bodies stay younger for longer. It helps us perform daily tasks like tying our shoes with ease.
  • Filip combines FST sessions along with prescribing flexibility maintenance programs that the client should follow on their own in order to improve their flexibility and make it last.
  • A general primer for achieving lasting flexibility via FST is a package of 10 sessions. The first 6-7 sessions should be scheduled closer together (one or two days in between sessions), followed by a few follow-up/maintenance sessions spaced farther between (once a month).
  • There are several factors that play a role in how effective FST can be for the client; these include: genetic/morphological predisposition to flexibility; client's adherence to his/her prescribed flexibility maintenance program; and the client's level of relaxation during the FST sessions.
